Two skills Forple helps you build

The skill to pass the test, and the skill to actually use Japanese.

Passing the JLPT

A mock test every month (N4, N3, N2)

One test a month with vocabulary, grammar, reading and listening. You see the result right away, with a score for each part, so you know what to work on. The written part is free; listening is paid.

Japanese you can use

工場で働いている間、外の音は何も聞こえません。

Learn JLPT words and words used at work. Write sentences with the grammar you learned and say them out loud. The AI shows how to fix them and asks questions that help you find your own mistakes. Part of the writing practice is free; speaking is paid.

Does this sound familiar?

  • You know the words, but you cannot put them into a sentence.
  • There is no Japanese teacher near you, so you do not know if you are right.
  • The JLPT is held only twice a year, so you do not know your level until the real test.

Why we built Forple

You learned the words, but when you try to make a sentence, they do not come out. We built Forple to close the gap between knowing a word and being able to use it.

Words you have learned come back just as you start to forget them. Write your own sentences with the grammar you learned and say them out loud, and the AI tells you what to fix. Little by little, the words you learned become words you can use.

The monthly mock test shows your level in numbers. When you know how far you have come, you can also see what to do next.

Some people want to work in Japan but cannot see how to get there, so they take the long way round or pay high fees. We believe that seeing your own Japanese level is the first step to moving forward on your own.

How it works: one day of study

The prompt and the feedback below are a real prompt from the app and a real reply from the AI (from a test account).

  1. You get a prompt

A sentence in your language, and the grammar to use.

While I am working in the factory, I cannot hear any sound from outside.N4 · grammar 〜間 (while)

  2. Write it in Japanese

    Kana only is fine too.

    私が工場で働いている間、私は外からの音を聞く事はできません

  3. The AI checks it

It tells you what is right and what to fix, and shows a corrected sentence.

You used 〜間 correctly after 働いている to show the time while you work.

For sounds that reach your ears without effort, use 聞こえます. 聞く means to listen on purpose.

    私が工場で働いている間、外からの音は聞こえません。

  4. Words come back before you forget

You can see how many words you have mastered at each level.

Part of the Forple progress screen: words mastered at N5, N4, N3 and N2.
  5. Check your level every month

A score for each part shows you what to study next.

Part of a Forple monthly test result: the score and correct answers for each part.
  6. Everything follows your level

Words, grammar, and writing and speaking prompts match the level you choose.

    • N5: 721 words, 46 grammar points
    • N4: 1,150 words, 86 grammar points
    • N3: 1,691 words, 269 grammar points
    • N2: 2,372 words, 257 grammar points
